About
Art has been with me since the age of three when I helped my father make a garden sundial of Vermont marble and copper. It resides with me, still, here my garden in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He was a stone cutter, a monument man, and used the subtle textures, shapes, and inclusions in granite and marble to express his creativity. He gave me the gift of insatiable curiosity about the world of natural things and how they influence creativity. And, most of all, he gave me the courage to enjoy my journey.
I use the inclusions in stone to compliment the colors and forms of metal. Non-reflective finishes dominate my work, with form and mood to represent the natural processes and the passage of time.
My metal and stone sculptures are larger representations of my childhood influences. My garden sundials are of steel, brass, and stone to mark the natural journey of the sun across the heavens.
